About

The MC Cap 580 sits in the CAP-family lineage of Cap Aviation, the French aerobatic-aircraft manufacturer based in Darois whose roots in unlimited-aerobatic competition reach back to the 1950s. The CAP 10 trainer, CAP 20 / 21 single-seater, and the world-championship CAP 230 / 231 / 232 series collectively defined French unlimited-aerobatic competition through the late twentieth century. Each design refined a recipe of clean low-wing taildragger layout, generous control authority, and the kind of wooden-and-composite construction that gave CAP airframes their distinctive flying personality.

The "MC" prefix in the model name suggests a specific RC-product variant or livery rather than a unique full-scale aircraft. Treat the model as a sport-scale tribute to the broader CAP family of competition airframes, with the unmistakable French-aerobat silhouette — short-coupled, low-wing, with the bubble canopy and clean nose contour shared across the CAP catalog.

The CAP-family silhouette is widely modeled in foam, balsa, and giant-scale RC kits, and the type's competitive heritage gives it a recognizable presence at scale-aerobatic fly-ins.

In the simulator

A demanding aerobatic mount with the responsive handling that the CAP family is built for. Use it for the unlimited-aerobatic vocabulary: vertical lines, knife-edge passes, slow rolls, and tight aerobatic-box figures. A natural sibling of the Cap232 White (CV Planes Pack 2) and GP Cap 232 (CV Planes Pack 4) — three different liveries from across the same competition lineage.
