The Boeing AH-64 Apache — the U.S. Army's primary attack helicopter for over four decades — captured as an RC scale model.
The AH-64 Apache is the work of Hughes Helicopters (later McDonnell Douglas, then Boeing). The prototype YAH-64 first flew on September 30, 1975, and the type entered U.S. Army service in 1986. Twin General Electric T700 turboshaft engines, four-blade rotor, distinctive tandem-cockpit fuselage, and the chin-mounted M230 30mm chain gun give the Apache its unmistakable silhouette. The type has served in every major U.S. ground-conflict since the 1989 Panama invasion.
