About

The Sukhoi Su-31 is a Russian single-engined aerobatic aircraft designed by Sukhoi as a lighter and more powerful version of the earlier Sukhoi Su-29. The prototype made its first flight in June 1992, and the type went on to win medals at multiple World and European Aerobatic Championships through the 1990s and 2000s.

This RC variant carries the "Matador" livery — a competition paint scheme reflecting the Spanish bullfighting tradition that has been applied to several real-world unlimited-aerobatic aircraft over the years. Aerobatic-aircraft liveries often draw from cultural and athletic motifs that match the spectacle and skill demanded of the discipline; bullfighting iconography has been a recurring theme in international aerobatic display painting for decades.

The unmistakable Sukhoi-aerobat silhouette — short-coupled, low-wing, with the distinctive Russian flat-fronted cowling that characterizes the entire Su-26/Su-29/Su-31 family — carries through regardless of paint scheme. Sukhoi-family models in competition liveries appear at scale-aerobatic fly-ins worldwide.

In the simulator

The same demanding aerobatic handling as the standard SU-31 in this same pack — substantial inertia, generous control authority, and the kind of stable-but-aggressive handling Russian aerobatic competition was built on. The Matador livery is the visual difference; the airframe character matches the rest of the Su-31 family. Use it for unlimited-aerobatic flying with classic competition aesthetics.
