The Blade SR — Horizon Hobby's larger fixed-pitch single-rotor helicopter for outdoor flying.
The Blade SR is the larger member of the Blade single-rotor (SR) helicopter family from Horizon Hobby — a fixed-pitch electric heli sized for outdoor flying at flying-field scale rather than the indoor micro category that defines the mSR series. Like every well-loved fixed-pitch single-rotor heli, the SR earns its place in the hobby by being three things at once: stable enough to be flown by a beginner outdoor heli pilot, capable enough to grow into mild aerobatic handling, and simple enough to maintain without the mechanical complexity of a collective-pitch heli.
The fixed-pitch design philosophy is straightforward: rotor speed (rather than rotor pitch) controls lift, with a constant-pitch main rotor and a simple swashplate arrangement for cyclic control. The result is a helicopter that's mechanically simpler than a CP heli, easier to maintain, and friendlier for new pilots — at the cost of the unlimited 3D capability that comes with collective-pitch installations.
The bigger picture is the outdoor fixed-pitch heli category itself. Whether Blade SR, Walkera HM, or any of dozens of similar designs from competing brands, outdoor fixed-pitch electric helis have been a flying-field niche for pilots who want rotorcraft flying without the cost and complexity of a full collective-pitch installation.
A friendly outdoor fixed-pitch helicopter. Stable handling, predictable response, and the kind of forgiving rotorcraft character that makes outdoor heli flying teachable. A natural sibling of the smaller Blade mSR V2 and the more demanding Blade mCP-X in this same pack.
