Central Valley — one of the simulator's first panoramic landscapes, built two decades ago using Terragen for terrain rendering.
The Central Valley landscape represents California's Central Valley — the long flat agricultural valley that runs the length of the state from Redding south to Bakersfield. As one of the very first panoramic landscapes built into the simulator (alongside Hidden Mountain and Sedona), Central Valley was constructed roughly twenty years ago using Terragen, the procedural terrain rendering software from Planetside Software. The result was one of the original wide-horizon flying environments in the simulator, before high-resolution scanned terrain became feasible.
An open-horizon flying environment with the flat-and-far visual character of California's agricultural heartland. Generous airspace makes the field suited to a wide range of airframes from sport foamies to giant-scale aerobatic mounts.
